Gov. Heineman Appoints Robert Otte of
Lincoln
to Third Judicial District Judgeship
(Lincoln, Neb.) Gov. Dave Heineman today announced his appointment of Robert Otte of Lincoln to serve as a district court judge for the Third Judicial District, which encompasses Lancaster County.
“Mr. Otte’s extensive experience in legal and community matters in Lincoln and Lancaster County will serve him well in this new role as a District Court Judge,” Gov. Heineman said.
Otte, 51, is a partner and shareholder at Morrow, Poppe, Otte & Watermeier law office in Lincoln. He has been with the firm for more than 26 years, and has experience in business formation and real estate law, family matters, contracts, and estate planning, along with significant trial experience in state and federal Courts.
In addition to his legal experience, he has served as a lecturer on business and franchise law topics for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) College of Business Administration and Nebraska Wesleyan University.
He is a member of the Lincoln Bar Association and the Nebraska State Bar Association (NSBA). He has represented individuals through the NSBA’s Volunteer Lawyers Project, which provides free or reduced cost legal services for individuals in need. He also provides legal services for Clinic With a Heart, a free, volunteer-based medical clinic in Lancaster County, where he has served as Vice-President and as a member of the group’s Board of Directors since 2005.
Otte also is on the Board of Directors of the Rudge and Charles Foundation, which provides low-cost housing for seniors in Lincoln’s core and throughout Lancaster County. He also serves on the Family Service Board of Directors and has been a youth sports coach.
Otte graduated from UNL in 1978 and received his law degree from the UNL College of Law in 1981. |
